LADY VOLS SHINE IN 2009 COMCAST LADY VOLS CLASSIC

By Dan Harralson

The Lady Vols hosted Western Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, and Lipscomb in the 2009 Comcast Lady Vols Classic this weekend. The last time we saw the Lady Vols in action, was in a five-set heart-breaking loss to Clemson to end last year. Rob Patrick's squad entered the NCAA tournament last year with a 22-9 overall record. Patrick has ten returning players from last years team, including outside hitters Nikki Fowler and Kylie Marshall. On top of all this, the Lady Vols have their most dynamic player returning in Chloe Goldman. Goldman, a senior, is on pace to shatter the Lady Vols career digs record. Going into the Comcast Lady Vols Classic, Goldman was 288 digs shy of Kristy Dobson's 1,474 career dig mark. Dobson played for UT from 1988-1991. "My goal when I came here was to break every record I could," Goldman said. Here are all the results from the 2009 Comcast Lady Vols Classic in Knoxville:

Saturday - Tennessee defeated Tennessee Tech 25-22, 25-9, and 25-14; Tennessee defeated Western Kentucky 18-25, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, and 15-12; Lipscomb defeated Western Kentucky 25-23, 25-17, and 27-25; Lipscomb defeated Tennessee Tech 25-16, 25-17, and 25-22.
